Golden Gecko Care Sheet

Origin: Vietnam

Size: 5 to 7 inches

Housing: A 10 gal. aquarium can be used. Substrate can be any reptile substrate designed for lizards. Golden’s are from the rain forest, so humidity is needed. Misting the cage several times a day is a must. They need a place to hide so hollow logs and cork bark can be used.

Being nocturnal, Golden Geckos do not need any UV light, but do need a nocturnal heat lamp to provide the proper temps at night. Temps should be between 75 and 85 degrees.

Feeding: Golden Geckos will eat crickets, meal worms, wax worms, roaches, fruits (bananas, slightly mashed), and baby food. I have also fed mine very small (hours old) pinkie mice. Golden’s generally do not drink from their water bowl, but one should be provided for soaking. These geckos will drink water droplets from the leaves in their cage.
