Tokay Gecko care sheet
Tokay Gecko Care Sheet
Origin: S.E. Asia
Food: Crickets, meal worms, roaches, pinkie mice
Housing: Glass aquarium with screen top. Minimum size 20 gal. high. Ideal size 39 gal., or can use
a 40 gal. critter keeper.
Substrate: you can use the reptile bark type substrate, this helps with humidity.
Cage furniture: sturdy logs, vines, water bowl, hide box
Temps and humidity: Tokays should be kept between 75 and 85 degrees for the day with night
time temps around 70. They prefer a fairly humid environment, so misting a couple
of times a day is a must.
Tokays will bite! I handle mine as little as possible, but when I have to I used gloves.
Tokays are nocturnal, so not UV light is needed. A regular incandescent bulb for basking is fine.
Size: 10 to 14 inches, most top out at 12 inches.
Lifespan: 7 to 10 years in the wild, have been known to live 20 years in captivity.

Re: Tokay Gecko care sheet
Mine won't eat anything but crickets. They bark when I try pinkies or super worms. Any suggestions?
Re: Tokay Gecko care sheet
Iggy, are the pinkies F/T or live? I feed live, and they can't resist the movement. As for the superworms.... I have some that will eat them, and some that won't. They do like the mealworms, though.
