Punctured Iggy ear Empty Punctured Iggy ear

Post  Geisha Sun Nov 07, 2010 2:10 am

My fem Ig punctured her ear sometime recently. She has had this happen before. I glued some of her shed over it and it healed. Well this time there was green goo present when I found the puncture, there was stuck shed over her ear which was held in place by this goo. Is it a sign of infection? I haven't covered the hole as I am not sure if I should with the possibility of infection.

The green goo is likely puss, and yes is a sign of infection. I would not cover the hole, you want it to be able to drain. Just keep the area clean of the goo so it doesn't close up the hole. She may need systemic antibiotics to help clear it up, so it may not be a bad idea to see a vet.
